CAIRO – 15 May 2026: The floating hotel M.S. Kasr Ibrim was successfully relaunched into Lake Nasser behind the Aswan High Dam after completing comprehensive dry dock maintenance and repair work carried out by the Port Said Company for Engineering Works and Marine Construction, one of the companies affiliated with the Suez Canal Authority.

According to a statement issued Friday by the Suez Canal Authority, the project marks the second successful relaunch completed in record time following the maintenance and reoperation of the floating hotel Eugenie. The authority said the achievement demonstrates the company’s ability to provide integrated technical services that meet international standards in southern Egypt.

The maintenance work included hull repairs, replacement of 20 tons of damaged iron, servicing of sea valves, machine alignment adjustments, propeller maintenance, and other technical upgrades. All work was completed within a record period of just four months.

In a recorded statement, Aswan Governor Amr Lashin noted that Aswan currently hosts more than 150 floating hotels, including eight operating behind the High Dam. He added that the presence of a specialized maintenance and repair center in the area is expected to encourage further tourism investment and support the growth of the sector in Upper Egypt.
